Thanks The editing part is definitely ‘work’, but it just doesn’t feel so satisfying because I can’t see the result so easily or as quickly.

Yes, that is true. Sometimes I don’t notice the story idea starting so I don’t know where it came from, though. LOL about the hard work and swearing.

I think stories come from observing what happens around us and then observing what that does inside of us. And a lot of hard work and swearing.

I always count editing as writing work. Good luck with the short story.
