Writerly Goals update

“This week there’s only one task on my to-do list.”

That’s what I wrote last week. But I’d forgotten about the horses needing more paddock and the office needing to be converted to a spare bedroom-slash-office so my parents can stay here while I’m gone to Colorado in January. Yes, I know it’s only October, but time has a way of creeping up behind me and then pouncing.

So I started out trying to do both the fence and the story. Got a little done on each Saturday. Sunday the ragweed showed me who’s the boss. It wasn’t me. I was in bed sick with extreme allergy issues until the pain subsided and I could open my puffy eyes.

Spent the rest of the day Sunday working on the spare bedroom/office and only worked a little on my story. I did get some in-depth crit on it, though, so as soon as I’m brave enough to do more than skim the file, I’ll dig into it and see what needs to be done to bring it around. That should be tonight, or during lunch today if I can get away from work and to the park with my laptop.

My goals for this week are the same as last week’s were.

This week’s goals:

  • Rewrite  the short story

This year’s goals:

  • Finish editing Symbiosis
  • Write and submit six short stories to pro markets

Building fences and re-arranging my house isn’t on my writerly task list, I know, but since they take up so much space on the unspoken list, I figured I’d better start paying attention to the time they’re demanding, too.
