A little writerly marketing research… a POLL!

Please help me with my latest round of marketing research. In the past, we’ve looked at how readers find books. Now I want to know how readers find blogs.

Specifically, I’d like to know how YOU found MINE.

  1. I found you on the WordPress site, as I surfed writing blogs. As bloggers, we need to interact more, or so I’m told. I tend to be lazy and suffer accordingly, relegated to the blogging wilderness with my faithful fanbase of three followers! Happy Christmas.

  2. Thanks for chiming in :) It’s so time-consuming to interact, isn’t it? I tend to be lazy too, but am trying to find the best ways to maximize my time. One of the things I love about WP blogs is the ease in which we can follow and comment with each other’s blogs.

  3. When I first started my writing blog I wanted to find other writers with whom I felt some kind of a connection–and I found you through the WordPress writer tags. Yay for me–it has been a real joy getting to know you better and follow along on your writing journey :)

  4. Jeannie it’s been a joy to me too! I’m so glad you resurfaced because I thought of you often while you were on sabbatical :) Thanks for taking part in my survey!

  5. I wouldn’t mind a sticker either, though I’m so late that I’ll probably get none. *sad*

I found you thanks to the Friday Fictioneers, from a post on eFiction magazine.

  6. I have a story submitted to Flylit. Been waiting to here something since mid-november. They don’t answer queries and their webpage is under some sort of reconstruction. Your page came up when I google Flylit to find something out.
So, did your rejection get sent through Hey Publisher?

  7. Hi Frank, I searched high and low for someone to get information about Flylit from – with no luck. Yes, I did get the rejection through Hey Publisher, a form reject. No one ever answered my questions either – I think I’d emailed one of the members listed from their website. I’m thinking Flylit hasn’t gotten off the ground yet. The website hasn’t been updated and it said last time I looked that it planned to launch in December 2011. But if you’re on Duotrope, you can see that they did just send out a few rejections to other members registered on Duotrope. So there is life out there somewhere and maybe yours is still under consideration. Or maybe they never got it.

  8. Hmmmm, “never got it’ may be a possibility. Hey Pub doesn’t help all that much, but it still shows it as submitted. *sigh* guess I have no options other than wait or withdraw. Fortunately, I’m patient.

    Thanks much!

  9. I’d be inclined to think they got it if HeyPub shows it submitted. Maybe they’re considering it. I hate that there’s no way to query the publisher directly, though.

  10. I found your blog via Twitter. I think. But then there are other blogs (I’m so distracted!) that I peruse/skim/seek/stalk. How many a day? Or was it Google? How many sites am I on? What’s my name again?

  11. I wish I could remember whose blog I was on that I found a comment that led me to you. Dang, that was well over a year ago! I’ve slept since then :) But I’m so glad I found you and we are on this writing journey together. xox

  12. LOL. I think I’ve found most of the blogs I stalk through comments on other blogs and from just following back bloggers that followed me. A few from Twitter, but not too many. But the most frequent way I find new blogs is from forum comments.

  13. Reblogged this on Madison Woods and commented:

So I checked my previous poll about how people find me or my blog, and now the most voted response is through comments made on other blogs. Just thought you might be interested in knowing how one blogger is finding an audience. Your time posting comments on other blogs can be considered contributed to your marketing duties ;)

  14. Somebody posted a tweet on Twitter linking back to your blog. I thought it looked interesting so I followed.

  15. Thanks for letting me know :)

Sent from my iPhone… You should have seen the typos I *did* catch!

  16. Oh how awesome cool that my blog got pulled with those to be sent to you! Thanks for letting me know :)

Hey, thanks for the comment! While you're here, if you'd hit the Tweet or FB share button, it would help this author's cause tremendously!
