Overall, 2011 was a year of digging foundation trenches and building infrastructure.
2012 is dedicated to finishing the foundation and actually building the form.
That’s the plan, anyway in very rough outline
I’ll expand on my Writer’s Business Plan after my vacation, with the first post on that topic scheduled for January 31. I’m happy to be finally getting a clear idea of what I’m doing and where I’m going, and excited to share it with you.
And I’m fully aware that plans, even the best laid ones, don’t always work out.
That’s okay, I’ll adapt as needed as time goes by. This is for the long haul and am planning for the best but prepared for the worst.
Last week recap
Last week I made good progress on my editing goals. I’m at 29 pages completed, (9.0% done) whereas I’d left off with my last recap at 13 pages done.
Plus I implemented a handy little progress bar over there on the right hand side of my blog to give me a visual.
To be finished in time for my ETA of Wednesday before Labor Day weekend 2012, I’ll need to edit 360 words every day from now until then.
Putting it that way makes the goal feel much more attainable than just saying I need to have all 95000 words done by the day I leave for Chicon7.
Concrete mileposts, not just an *idea* of what I want to do is the best way to express a goal if I intend to actually meet it.
This week’s goals:
- Edit 10 pages (this is a little more words than I need, but it will give me some wiggle room if I fall back some weeks)
This year’s goals:
- Finish editing Symbiosis
- Submit Symbiosis to Pyr Books
- Begin working on novel #2
- write and submit 3 short stories
- Have a plan for next year and foward
