Writerly Goal Check

I normally compose this post Sunday night or early Monday morning before I head out to the day job. Life had other plans though and I didn’t get enough sleep to wake up early enough this morning to post when I usually do.

This weekend left me with no time to do any editing aside from a few paragraphs I squeezed in on Sunday afternoon. So now I’m behind and need to catch up.

When I get out of my routine it makes the whole day seem clumsy. Does that happen to you? At least I was able to have my coffee on time.

I forgot to mention yesterday that tomorrow’s guest will be Jaqueline Litchenberg. Her post will talk about how and why your pitch needs to  move the movers of science fiction and fantasy. She brings us full circle from historical to present day pitching.

Litchenberg created the first major series of Star Trek stories, the Kraith series (named after a goblet used in Vulcan rituals), detailing Spock’s earlier life on Vulcan. – - from “Women in Science Fiction and Fantasy: Overviews” by Robin Anne Reid

This week’s goals:

  • Catch up on the editing of Symbiosis, edit during lunch hour

This year’s goals:

  • Finish editing SYMBIOSIS
  • Format a collection of Flash stories for Kindle

Notice I’ve only made one goal for this week. I’ve gotten pretty far off-track with my editing, so that’s where I’m going to focus my effort this week. In all honesty, I should put posting the photo prompt for Friday Fictioneers, tomorrow’s guest post, and Friday’s flash madness on that list, too. But those are things I do now by habit and they seem to take less effort to accomplish, so I haven’t been counting them as ‘goals’.
