This week’s story is from Eli’s POV and ties in with the story from a couple weeks ago for the mushroom prompt.
I’m looking forward to reading your stories this week. We have more members than ever before, so it is taking longer than Friday evening to get through them all. Sometimes it is taking me days! I start with the first commenters first and move down the list as quickly as I can. If the day job is hectic, it’ll take me longer.
And we’re off to write, link and read stories!
***
Here’s how it works: My story is here. When you comment, post a link to yours. Then comment and add your link to the other Fictioneer’s stories.
Tweet your link, too, and add the #FridayFictioneers hashtag so we can easily find you and RT.
I’m always open to constructive criticism if you see mistakes or ways to improve upon what I’ve done. This is a learning exercise for me. However, not everyone feels that way, so if you don’t see an invitation to critique on their post, don’t do it. A lot of people just want and need encouragement!
We are the Friday Fictioneers and we gather every Friday here to post a very short story. It’s a great way to showcase your voice, but to do it in 100 word is almost an extreme challenge. It forces you to choose strong verbs and concise phrases.
Hop on board and post one of yours or visit ours, or do both.

Hi – I found this site through another blog. It’s a wonderful idea I do have a suggestion though. Instead of using comments for people to link etc why not use the handy dandy linky list that I see everywhere? People just link their blog and go down a list not a bunch of comments. Anyway just a suggestion I love drabbles and this is a great idea
That is an idea and it may come time to use it one day. But the drawback is that you lose the community, the interaction between each other that way. It just feels impersonal. Ive done challenges like that and just never looked forward to them the way I look forward to this each week. Did you find them as much fun? I might have to try another one to see if it’s different now. Thanks for the reminder that such a thing even exists! I’d forgotten about that.
Sent from my iPhone… You should have seen the typos I *did* catch!
I want to play, too, but I feel like I’m jumping rope, watching it come round and round until I know how to jump in. What I get so far is that you post a photo on Fridays and write 100 words about it, inviting others to also write about it, presumably before the next Friday, and to tweet using that hastag. How’m I doing so far?
LOL. Almost
I post the photo on WEDNESDAY and people are literally beating my blogging door down to post links to their stories on FRIDAY. The reason they’re waiting is because they link to my story in the comments, haha, and I don’t post mine until around 5 a.m. Friday morning. Then we read and comment throughout the weekend and stragglers join in as they can. I just finished reading the ones from Friday this morning
Jump in this week if you like, we’d love to have you!
So we post a link to our blog of the 100 words in your comments by Friday?
Hmmm. I’d replied earlier but I don’t see it showing up anywhere either (at least not from my comments panel point of view). So what you’ll do is post your link as a comment to my story on Friday. I usually post around 5 am and it’s the standard Friday post that say’s “#FlashFriday Whoo-hooo…” and in that post there’s a link to my story. Follow that link and under my story is where you’ll leave your link. The main reason for trying to keep all the links in one spot is so we don’t miss anyone and so everyone gets the traffic to their blogs. If you post in the wrong place, I’ll either move it or comment a reply to you so you can post it in the right place (if I’m busy at work, I won’t be able to get online to comment or reply until I get home that evening).
Thanks, Madison. If i don’t play this time, maybe I will next.
