Sunday Musings

Happy Easter!

Not too many musings for today because I’m hot on the tail end of editing my story and I’d like to get it done before I leave to watch grandbaby girls hunt Easter eggs. In reality, I probably won’t get far enough and will have to stop at the REALLY frustrating point of ‘almost there’.

A lot of Fictioneers (maybe all the email blog subscribers) did not get the photo prompt on Wednesday when I posted it to my blog. Something must have misfired with WordPress I guess.

To avoid missing it in the future, if you have a Facebook account either ‘Like’ my page or ‘Friend’ me because I always post it there, too. That’s the only thing I know to suggest because I don’t know why the emails didn’t go out for the blog post subscribers.

There’s a conference coming to the Ozarks in October. I’m planning to attend this one just for the chance to pitch to Cherry Weiner, an awesome agent. Daniella Rapp of St. Martin’s Press will also be there, but it doesn’t look like she is seeking the genre I write. But I definitely would like to pitch to Cherry.

Which means this short-story editing has to get DONE this weekend, so I can get back to work on editing the novel I am wanting to pitch. Here’s a link to OCW’s new blog. You might recognize Lou Turner (publisher for High Hill Press, and the organizer and blog mistress for OCW)  from her input on my Thursday pitch slams here.

Y’all have fun for the rest of your weekend!

  1. Madison, look at the bright side of stopping at the frustrating point of “almost there.” You’ll be raring to get back to it. I’d much rather be at that point than where I am, which is stuck in the mucky sludge of “Where do I begin?”

Have a happy Easter with your grandbabies! :)

  2. You’re very right, Jan! I hate that point where you are. This is only a ~10K short story I’m working on, but with the novel it’s so much worse to figure out what to do first. But that’s the next place I’m headed once this story is finished. Have to say, though I was initially dismayed by all the comments and mark-up on my story ms by the editor and was wondering ‘omg where do I start’ even on this project. But now that I’ve made the changes it has really improved the story. Editors rule. I see why now ;)

Hey, thanks for the comment! While you're here, if you'd hit the Tweet or FB share button, it would help this author's cause tremendously!
