So I’ll take this unexpected blogging schedule break to tell you a secret.
This week’s photo prompt is going to be difficult for some of you. It’s difficult for me, too. If you panic when you see it, take a deep breath and look at other things in the picture – if the subject matter doesn’t lend itself to a story for you, consider the mood, the time of day, the feelings and just write from there. The story doesn’t have to be about the things you *see* with your eyes when you look at it. But that’s not the secret.
There’s a sneak preview to it on my FB page. That’s the secret. When I have the photo picked out early, from now on, I’ll use it for the header photo on my regular account and my page. If you have a FB account, you can find my link in the side-bar on this blog. I believe you can see the profile even if you don’t do the FB thing.

No guest for today. I’ll have to do some more digging around the internet for future invitees, but I have the next few weeks lined up. If you know someone with an interesting story to tell or has a writerly, readerly business to promote, feel free to suggest a candidate.

I’ve been editing and researching some details in Symbiosis this morning about the island of Thera. It disappeared in a volcanic explosion about 3500 years ago and quite possibly is the origin of the Atlantis theories. It’s also the first safe haven Ki knew after she was rescued from the destruction Neti wrought on the temple where she was born. Seems that destruction followed her wherever she went from there…so it’s probably a good thing she doesn’t stay in one place too long anymore. There’s only one place safe for her to go and only one person who knows she needs to be there. Now if he could just convince her to agree…
I got real nervous when I read this wondering what the picture would be. In my mind it was something horrible and sad. I had to go look. It was horrible, as for writing about it, it will take a little thinking. I can see a lot of different stories flowing from it.
Is this the 100 word photo friday fiction? If so, may I go ahead and post mine? I’m going to be out of town Friday.
Yes, that’s the photo I’ll post here on the blog tomorrow, which will be the basis for the stories we post to our blogs on Friday (usually). You’re welcome to go on and leave your link here, but it means you might get less traffic to your blog through the weekend. If you can, remember to come back Saturday and leave your link on the story page. A lot of us take days to read through them all.
LOL, it’s not horrible. I have lots of story ideas already too but none of them have gelled yet. I figure by Friday morning something will come.
again, i wrote mine and i’m squirming that i have to wait until friday. but what i learned i can do at least is save it as a draft on wordpress. then i can bring up the wordpress app on my droid on friday and click “publish” on friday. then i can copy and paste the link from my entry into your comments on friday. should work. we’ll see.
What the Hell! Now we have to go all the way over to facebook to get our prompt??? With the big buildup, I can’t wait… see you later.
LOL, Ted, I’ll post it here tomorrow as usual. It’s just decorating my FB page now if you wanted a sneak preview.
Yep… that one’s going to unleash the Hounds from Hell!
*chuckle* they seem to be running fairly loose already…
Good grief. By “was” I meant “wasn’t”. My proofreading skills are abysmal.
Hahaha! I thought you did think it was horrible. Too funny!
Sent from my iPhone… You should have seen the typos I *did* catch!
oo err, I’m so glad I don’t do flash fiction but I can already imagine some of the stories that are going to come out of that ‘pretty’ little pic
LOL, given the history of our past stories…I’m inclined to believe they’ll be of a certain slant toward the dark and macabre one way or another. I suspect even if I posted cute baby ducks it would be that way, haha.
That’s okay. I’ll try to send it in Friday sometime, if possible. Thanks. I’ll be reading in any case.
If you know how to schedule a post in advance, I can give you the link to the story page tonight. It won’t be a live link yet but it’ll work on Friday when yours goes live if it’s after mine @ 0500 central. (Rich this goes for you too).

I find stories about places like Thera to be quite intriguing. They just catch my eye and make my imagination start running wild.
Here’s the link for where my story will be on Friday: http://madisonwoods.wordpress.com/flash-fiction/barbed-wire-and-bulls/

thanks miss. although, i have no clue how to schedule my post to go into your comments on friday. i think i can copy and paste it through my phone. we’ll see.
what if i paste my link there now? is that why you gave that to me? sometimes i feel soooo dumb.
you can’t do that, but when your post goes live, it’ll drop a ‘ping’ to mine (or it should) that’ll announce you’ve linked. Some of us will take that as a clue that you’ve posted a story and head over there without an overt comment from you.
gotcha. so when i post with that link in mine, it’ll signal back to yours.
Well, that’s a great idea. Wish I’d thought of it.
if you don’t mind, then i’ll do that now. if it messes you up, then please delete it.
Go ahead. It should work just fine like that.
Thanks
Oh no .. cute baby ducks gunned down in killing frenzy in Chinese restaurant raid by mad man escaped from local butchers shop ….. LOL
