Tuesday’s Spotlight on Wednesday: Amy West tells us about her favorite character

My questions for Amy:

From your own stories,  which character do you love most and why?

*

My favorite character from my novels is my Shane West character, Dr. Andrew Barnett. I created him specifically as one of the two main characters for my second novel, “Against Medical Advice” that I’m very close to completing right now, but now that I’ve spent so much time with him and have watched him grow, I want him to be in every single one of my stories from here on out, even if its just a small role.
*
What makes him my favorite character is that not only is he an amalgam of my two favorite Shane West characters, Ray Barnett from “ER” and Landon Carter from “A Walk To Remember,” but he is truly what I envision the perfect boyfriend to be. He’s smart, generous, independent, street-wise, a hopeless romantic, and he cares deeply about his friends that he’ll do anything to protect them, and his girlfriend. He would die for her.
*
I also love him because he makes me laugh so much. I surprise myself sometimes by the things that come out of his mouth, and it brings me such joy to write him because he’s such a fun character, and I never know what to expect when he starts talking.
*
There are so many layers to him. There’s nothing he won’t try at least once. Plus, he’s got a hilarious close circle of friends, his “Dirty Whiskey” band mates, that seem to add more life to his personality and to the story when they are all together. He’s a breath of fresh air within my stories and it’s hard for anyone to not like him. :)
